Dr. Ibrahim Alshowaier

 

Biography

Dr. Ibrahim A. Alshowaier was born on March 13th I953 in Shagra, Saudi Arabia. He graduated from King Saud University in 1976, with a Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy. He went on to complete his MS in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Arizona, College of Pharmacy in 1983 and completed his PhD in Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacokinetics, from the University of Wales (1992-I997).

Dr. Alshowaier is a prominent, figure in the medical field and the various positions he has held over the years include: Chief of Pharmacy Pediatrics' and Maternity Hospital, Riyadh (l976-1978); Pharmacist at the Medical License and Pharmaceutical Affairs-M.O.H (1983-1984); Drug Analyst at the Central lab ofٍ Food and Drug Analysis ( 1984-I986); Chief of Medical License and Pharmacy Inspector for Riyadh Area (1986-1992); Director of Medical Supplies of the Riyadh Area (1997-I988); Consultant for the Minister of Health (1998). Presently he is the Director General of Medical Supplies (M.O.H).

He is the Member of various Boards und Committees, such as: the Pharmacy Board of Directors, Board of Directors - SASO; Board of Directors - Riyadh Medical Complex; the Essential Drug Committee - World Health Organization; Consultant, Bioequivalence and Pharmaceutical, Studies Centre, Academia Drug Company, Amman, Jordan; the Drug Registration Committee, M.O.H; the Drug Registration Committee, Gulf State, GCCDR; the National TB Control Committee; the Ministry of Health Hajj Committee; the Laboratory Tender Committee; the Equipments Tender Committee, M.O.H; the Drug Awarding Committee - GCC; the Rationing Committee, the High Rank Official Credential Committee; Chairman of the Drug Tender Committee; and the Head of the Contract Follow up Committee. He is also the member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists; American Pharmaceutical Association; and the Saudi Pharmaceutical Society.

Dr Alshowaier, has been an integral part of various international conferences including the Fourth International Symposium on Chiral Discrimination, Montreal, Canada; AAPS San Francisco, USA; the 136th British Pharmaceutical Conference. Many of his works have been published in various international journals such as: the Journal of Heterocyclic Chemistry; the Hospital Pharmacy; the Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis and the Journal of Clinical Pharmacology.
