Biography
Dr Saeed Bohlega graduated from King
Saud University, Riyadh in I980. He started his postgraduate training in
Internal Medicine in King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research
Centre, Riyadh and continued in St Pual's Hospital, Vancouver, Canada.
Then followed four years' training in Neurology und Neurophysiology at
the University of British Columbia. Vancouver, Canada. In 1986, he
obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, and
received the Achievement Award of the Saudi Education Attaché in Ottawa.
He became a diplomat of the American Board in Neurology in I989, the
American Board of Electro diagnostic Medicine in 1991 und the American
Board of Neurophysiology in l996.
Dr Boholega returned to Saudi Arabia in 1989 and took up the post of a
consultant Neurologist in the Department of Medicine at King Fiscal
Specialist Hospital and Research Centre and was Head of the Section of
Neurology , from I 995-1998. In 1999, the Section of Neurology became
part of the Deportment of Neurosciences, where Dr Bohlega continued as
Head of the Section of Neurology until January 2002.
He is Chairman of the Saudi Board in Neurology and was
President of the Riyadh Neurosciences club from 1996-2000, who paid
tribute to his dedication to this organization by presenting him with
the Neurosciences club award in 200I.
Dr Boholega's main area of professional interest is in the neurological
disorders that are common in Saudi Arabia, particular movement
disorders, neuromuscular disorders and the neurogenetics of these
diseases. On these, and other, topics, he has published 70 in
peer-reviewed journals as well as 100 abstracts, and he has given 60
invited lectures or presentations at international scientific meetings
