Dr. Zuhier Al-Kawi

 

Biography

Dr. Al-Kawi is one of the earliest neurologists to practice Neurology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is a distinguished senior teacher and a god-father to many neurologists around. 

He started his medical journey at the University of Damascus and obtained its medical degree in 1971. Then, he went to USA and joined Indiana University as a Neurology resident, and obtained the American Board in Neurology and Psychiatry in 1976. Since then, he continued to obtain further certificates on different fields of subspecialties of Neurology, including; Magnetic Resonance Imaging by the American Society of Neuroimaging in 1988; Neurosonology by the American Society of Neuroimaging in 1989; Clinical Neurophysiology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 1996 and Vascular Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2005. 

Dr. Al-Kawi is an important member in large number of eminent medical and neurological societies including Haris Country Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, American Academy of Neurology, American Society of Neuroimaging, Stroke Council–American Heart Association and he is the founding member and the first president of Riyadh Neurosciences club. 

Dr. Al-kawi is considered a reference to native neurological diseases through his distinguished and many published articles in peer reviewed journals.
