Who are we?

The Saudi Advisory Group Against Stroke is a professional organization made of Specialists working in different hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who are interested in promoting the local management and services provided for stroke victims in the Kingdom.

One of the most important objectives of this group is to increase the public awareness about stroke and to educate people about all aspects of stroke. It is our aim that the public should be able to recognize symptoms of stroke, to know the importance of controlling the risk factors. The public should be aware and understand that there is acute treatment that can be applied soon after stroke onset, which can modify the outcome of stroke..

The other important objective of this group is identify and set a common ground for stroke prophylaxis and acute stroke management in the Kingdom. This would be reached through adopting a unified guidelines and protocols for this issue, which will be suitable to be applied nationwide.

Also, the group is working on promoting and encouraging the establishment of stroke units across the nation due to their important role in acute stroke management.

SAGAS is a founding member of the World Stroke Federation and works in affiliation with the Saudi Heart Association.
