 In Memory of Dr Bin Huraib

Dr. Sameer Omar Bin Huraib was born in Taif, Saudi Arabia on October 15, I954. He graduated in Medicine (MBBS) from King Saud University Riyadh in 1979. Dr Huraib had received degrees and distinctions from American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), University of Toronto, Canada (September 1985); Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCPC), University of Toronto, Canada (1986), Certificate of Completion in Nephrology Royal College of Physicians, Canada (1987); Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) (January 1991).

He was a Professor of Medicine in King Saud University. He was also the Head of Nephrology and Hypertension, Division & Consultant Nephrologist; Chairman of Hypertension Treating Group; the Chairman of Internal Medicine at the King Fahd National Guard Hospital, Riyadh. In addition to this, he was a member of Regional Advisory Council, National Guard Health Affairs; member of Patient Executive Committee, National Guard Health Affairs; member of Editorial Board of the Saudi Medical Journal; President Elect of Arab Society of Nephrology & Renal Transplantation.

Dr Huraib was the member of various International Societies such as the Canadian Royal College of Medicine, American College of Medicine, International Society of Nephrology, Arab Society of Nephrology and Transplantation and American Society of Nephrology. He was also associated with the following medical journals: Saudi Annals' of Medicine. Saudi Medical Journal, Saudi Heart Association Journal and Kidney Internationals. The latest contribution to medicine was his enrolment with the Saudi  Advisory Group Against Stroke as an active member since January 2002. 

Dr. Ben Huraib died in April 13, 2003 after a prolonged suffering with sickness.

We, the members of SAGAS are deeply in pain for his death. He was a dear friend and an excellent physician. We will never forget his  ambitions to put his country among the leaders in modern medicine. We will never forget his smile, kindness and love for everybody. We give our sincere condolences to his family and ask Allah for mercy on his sole.
